Things I did this {late} summer

I had the chance to get out a little bit this summer. I haven't done many road trips this year, due to moving, selling houses, new part time work, buying new cars. Hopefully I will take some more trips soon in my newer SUV.

One Sunday in August, Mom called and wanted to go to La Conner. It was a nice, warm (but not scorching) day, so Mom, Dad and our dogs hopped in my new Mazda CX-5 and took a short road trip. La Connor is a pleasant, laid back little town at the end of the Skagit Valley, on Puget Sound.

A short hike one Labor Day weekend reminded me I need to get more exercise. My sister, brother-in-law and I took the Tunnel Creek Trail, right by the big curve just before Stevens Pass. 2 miles, 1,600 feet elevation. I think my brother-in-law was trying to give me a heart attack. The top was beautiful, and right at the Pacific Crest Trail. A small lake at the top, Hope Lake, had a lot of fall color.

Scenes from a short walk in Ballard; a pleasant mid-September evening. I met my good friend for a late dinner at Ballard Pizza Company (Ballard location). It was a very quiet Tuesday evening, in an area that is usually hopping with people.
